hello, regarding previous posts of my Moyle ancestors namely Edward Moyle & wife Mary Glasson, their son Stephen Moyle married Margaret Ann Johns both born 1838. Well another child of Mary Glasson & Edward Moyle was a CHRISTIANA MOYLE b close 1835 in Helston, I could not find her after the 1841 census, but have come across a Christiana Moyle marrying a JAMES BOADEN in March quarter of1858 in Helston, they travelled on the MORNING STAR from London to Port Adelaide South Australia in 1862 he aged 29 she 27, children : JAMES BOADEN 4 YEARS b 1858, WILLIAM BOADEN 3 YEARS b 1859, JOSEPH BOADEN 2 YEARS b1860 & ALFRED BOADEN 1 YEAR b 1862.. I am hoping someone may be able to help me discover if this is the daughter of Edward Moyle & Mary Glasson as i can not find anything on the on line opc, it may not be transcribed as yet?..... Thanking all cheers Joanne

Hi Joanne - I am unable to find a baptism at the moment which means Christiana was either baptised at Wendron or baptised Non-conformist.
But I think I have found her in 1861 with husband James Boaden and his family.
1861 Census Sithney Richard J Boaden, head, mar, 62, farmer of 60 acres, Cury Elizabeth do., wife, mar, 61, Cury James do., son, mar, 28, farmer's son, Mawgan Emily do., daur, unm, 26, Mawgan Joseph do., son, unm, 22, farmer's son, Mawgan Jane do., daur, unm, 18, farmer's daur, Mawgan Christian do., daur in law, mar, 25, Sithney James do., gson, 2, Sithney William do., gson, 1, Sithney Joseph do., gson, 4 mo, Sithney
So Christian was born at Sithney about 1835 but her baptism does not appear in the Sithney transcript which means she was baptised elsewhere or, as above, baptised Non-conformist. In either case unfortunately I do not have the relevant records.

Thankyou Ct, I am not sure if she was baptised at Helston or as you say non conformist as I can not find baptisms for the other children of Mary Glasson & Edward Moyle either..... appreciate the census with the family of her husband it seems from newspapers in NLA that she & James had 11 children, ended up living in NSW he died JAMES BOADEN in 1916, and CHRISTIANA BOADEN nee MOYLE died in 1924 June 28th in Orange nsw..... Cheers a lovely Chrissy to you...

Hi Joanne - don't forget that when you see 'Helston' in FreeBMD it actually means the Helston Registration District which includes the Parishes of Breage, Crowan, Sithney, Helston, Wendron for a start. CT

Joanne - in the 1881 Census there appear to be only two Edward Moyles who had been born in Cornwall.
One of those born about 1827 with a wife named Elizabeth but the other one might be handy.
There is an Edward Moyle, age 48, born Wendron and recorded as being married. He is a coal miner boarding with the family of Richard and Elizabeth Todd at Habergham Eaves in Lancashire.
And then at Illogan we have an Amelia Moyle, married, age 49, born Illogan with a number of children including daughter Ursula age 9.
I will have another look at this when I have a bit more time later tonight but I think it looks promising.

I was not quite correct in my last.
The children at Illogan with mother Amelia Moyle:-
William age 23 E (daughter) age 21 Ursula age 19 W (son) age 14 Amelia age 9 Mary age 8
This was the 1881 Census and it was the names that caught my attention. But as all were born at Illogan it may well be a different family.
Let's see what another look around can find.

Well, Well, Well!! I have just located the family in the 1871 Census and I now think that my prerious posting was the same family even though Amelia and the children are all recorded as being born at Illogan. 1871 Census Trelubbus, Wendron Edward Moyle, head, mar., 39, miner, Sithney Amelia do., wife, mar., 39, miner's wife, Mawgan Edwin Henry do., son, unm., 14, miner, Wendron William John do., son, unm., 13, scholar, Sithney Eliza Johns do., daur, unm., 11, scholar, Sithney Ursula Thomas do., daur, 9, scholar, Sithney Thomas Wesley do., son, 5, scholar, Wendron Amelia do., daur, 3 weeks, Wendron And now take a look at 1881 - remembering that Edward is up in Lancashire 1881 Census Broad Lane, Illogan Amelia Moyle, head, mar., 49, annuitant, Illogan William do., son, unm., 23, carpenter, Illogan E. do., daur, unm., 21, Illogan Ursula do., daur, unm., 19, Illogan W. do., son, unm., 14, Illogan Amelia do., daur, unm., 9, scholar, Illogan Mary do., daur, unm., 8, scholar, Illogan Now then - forget that it says everyone was born at Illogan and just make some comparisons:- 1871 1881 William John 13 William 23 Eliza Johns 11 E 21 Ursula Thomas 9 Ursula 19 Thomas Wesley 5 W 14 Amelia 3 weeks Amelia 9 There can be little doubt this is the same family! William John age 13 and William age 23 is straightforward. Eliza John age 11 becomes E. (daur.) age 21. Ursula Thomas age 9 is Ursula age 19 Thomas Wesley age 5 becomes W. age 14 (so he is going by his second name of Wesley) Amelia age 3 weeks is Amelia age 9 It would be far too much of a coincidence to have so many names the same with all the same age and also in the same order! In 1891 Amelia and some of her children were still at Broad Lane in Illogan. Amelia Moyle, head, mar., 60, Mawgan Milly do., daur, s, unm., 20, Daraper's Assistant, Helston Marie do., daur, s., unm., 18, Gwennap Elizabeth Thomas, mother, widow, 82, living on her own means, Mawgan Milly is Amelia and Marie is Mary but the dead giveaway has to be 'Elizabeth Thomas, MOTHER'! I cannot find Edward in 1891 so he is either out of the Country or he has died and it is an error in the Census showing Amelia as still married. CT

...Who ia a legend?....thats right CT is...thankyou heaps definately not a coincedence CT ...and you are so right with the mother Elizabeth Thomas... cheers so much CT I knew I could rely on your help... am starting to maKE some real progress with the Moyles finding Christiana whom married James Boaden, now Edward Junior and his family, now to locate William, Elizabeth, Martha, Maryann and i shall know all about my ggg grandfathers siblings....I still have not proven the parents of Edward Moyle senior have my inclinations but nothing substansial.... but very happy with what I have so far... looked on the NSW free bdm and found CHRISTIAN Boaden nee Moyles death registration , in Orange, mother listed as GLASSON father as William but i presume this is because the informant did not know her fathers nameand believed it to be William as that was the second son of James Boaden & Christiana Moyle , first son named James..... THANKYOU ...
