Thanks for that. I had a look at the 1871 census and it says that James Beare was born at Portreath but in the 1891 census James was born at Ludgvan which is where my Beare's came from.
I will have to find out if a Beare married a Trembath.

I have now found Thomas Bear James born 10.5.1857 Ludgvan. Parents were John James and Marianne.
Perhaps the Bear's in the above 1871 census are not related after all.

Newlyn - you are quite correct with that baptism.
In 1891 the nephew is actually Thomas Bear JAMES, age 33, born Ludgvan.
And the relationship would appear to be through the wife of John Trembath.
FreeBMD marriages show a marriage in the June Qtr of 1842 for a John TREMBATH.
Multiple marriages on the page but there is an Elizabeth JAMES so I suspect this will be the marriage.
Not sure where the BEAR name comes from yet.
Richard JAMES married Margaret JAMES 23rd March 1816 Ludgvan
Elizabeth d/o Richard and Margaret bp. 16th December 1821 Ludgvan
Mary Ann d/o Richard and Margaret bp. 11th December 1836 Ludgvan

Heather - I would reckon so. John s/o Richard and Margaret JAMES bp. 26th September 1832 Ludgvan David - I will need to look into that reference to Elizabeth DAVID but I have just searched FreeBMD for a marriage and there is no match for John TREMBATH and Elizabeth DAVID. CT

There was a Mary Louisa Bear born 2.6.1838 Ludgvan. Parents are William Bear and ANN Trewren who married 20.4.1833 Ludgvan The above family are my ancestors and Mary Louisa Bear/e never married. Now I aren't sure whether Thomas Bear James is connected to them as there was another Bear family in that area.

Looking through my notes I found that a Robert Bear was on a passenger list in April 7 1919 and he was joining friends ? Trembath in Detroit Michigan. His parents lived in Cornwall.
Robert had been to the US in 1911 and 1916.
I would like information about either of his previous trips in the hope that maybe his next of kin are named.

Hi Genie - cannot do anything immediately as I really must get some sleep.
But if you would like to drop another note later today it will act as a reminder and I will see what I can find in the Immigration Lists and also possibly the US Census.

Robert Bear was on a passenger list on April 7 1919 and he was joining friends ? Trembath in Detroit Michigan. His parents lived in Cornwall. Robert had been to the US in 1911 and 1916.
Someone found this for me: Majestic departed Southampton, arrived New York 31st May 1911
Robert Beare, age 21, miner, born Ludgvan Last residence, Ludgvan Father George Beare, Ludgvan Going to, Houghton Mich. Friend, A Hall, address Houghton
Therefore Robert date 1911 is one of the Beare family I have been looking for.
